Skukuza rest camp has two restaurants including the Selati Station Grillhouse. Selati offers a full breakfast every day from 7:30 to 10:30.

 

Temperatures: In May, the temperature on average dips to 10°C at night and peaks at 28°C during the day.

Skukuza rest camp in the Kruger National Park is a popular rest camp situated in the heart of Big Five territory and is easily accessed by road and by air.

 

The myriad of birds and wild game in the area is easily spotted by going on bush walks and game drives. Wildlife documentaries are shown in an outdoor amphitheatre. There is a magnificent 9-hole (18-tee), par 72 golf course available for golf enthusiasts on their Kruger National Park safari holiday.

 

Skukuza is the largest rest camp in the Kruger National Park, and serves as its headquarters and the main hub for nature conservation. Here you will find museums, cottages, huts, restaurants, shops, facilities for day visitors, camping and caravan sites, a petrol station, vehicle emergency service, car hire, an airport, a post office, a bank, a doctor and a laundromat.

 

When you drive through the imposing gates into Skukuza you find yourself in an administration centre abuzz with scientists, rangers, and conservationists. A wealth of knowledge can be gained in the information center, while adults and children can attend lectures in the nearby environmental education centre. A museum has been constructed at the railway siding, which was used on the Selati line in the 1920’s. You can have a meal in a restaurant housed in two old railway carriages from the same period.

 

The restcamp is located in the southern region of the Kruger National Park. Also worth a visit is the Campbell 1929 Hut Museum. This national monument was one of the first tourist huts to be established in Skukuza and houses interesting relics from the period. Skukuza has over 200 huts, making it the Kruger National Park’s largest camp.

Man's interaction with the lowveld environment over many centuries, - from bushman rock paintings to majestic archaeological sites, - is very evident in the park. these treasures represent the cultures, persons and events that played a role in the history of the Kruger National Park and are conserved along with the parks natural assets.
